Donald Charles Sleeper

Donald (Don) Charles Sleeper, 92, formerly of Upper Mad River Rd, Thornton, NH passed away on April 13, 2021. Born in Plymouth, NH on November 11, 1928 he was the son of Wendell and Mildred (Richter) Sleeper.

Don grew up in Plymouth, NH, enlisted in the Army where he graduated from the Defense Foreign Language Institute of Monterey, Ca in 1957. With this education, Don continued his military career working as a Czechoslovakian language interpreter. During his military years he lived in Vermont, Texas, California, Germany, NC. and Maryland where he ended his military career retiring from the National Security Agency.

After retiring from the Army, Donald moved his family back to NH where he made a second career of working as a meat cutter at the Campton Cupboard.
Don loved fishing and being out on his boat. He passed on this love of fishing to his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He was a happy joyful person filled with a charismatic personality that extended to anyone who met him.
Don was greatly loved and cherished by his family who all remember him for his humor and great story-telling capacity.

Being a faithful long-term member of the Calvary Independent Baptist Church of Plymouth, Don loved the Lord and faithfully served him.

Don was predeceased by his wife of sixty-four years, Priscilla U Sleeper who died on October 9th, 2017 and their son Derrick Brant Sleeper who died on March 14, 2015.
Don is survived by his children, Edward (Jean) Sleeper of Plymouth, NH; Cheryl (Ken) Nagamatsu of Charlotte, NC; Gail (Ron) Auffant of Hampton, NH; 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Calvary Independent Baptist Church of Plymouth, 115 Yeaton Road, Plymouth on Saturday at 1pm. Burial will be in Calvary Baptist Cemetery.
