Donald A. Quinn, 88, of Moultonborough, passed away on Tuesday, March 16, 2010, at Lakes Region General Hospital, in Laconia, after a brief period of illness.Born on April 20, 1921, in Medford, MA, he was the son of John S. and Margaret V. (Powell) Quinn. Donald was raised in Medford, and attended Medford Schools, graduating from Medford High School.Shortly after the attack on Pearl Harbor, Donald joined the U.S. Navy, and proudly served his country with honor and valor.After his service in the Navy he attended the University of Southern California, where he received a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, he then went on to attend Harvard University, where he completed his Master's Degree in Engineering. Donald and his wife Joan raised their family in Arlington, MA, and for many years, they summered together at the Sands of Brookhurst, of Meredith. For over 30 years Donald worked for the Stone & Webster Engineering Co., of Boston, retiring in 1983. In 1988 he and his family moved to Meredith. Donald was a communicant at St. Charles Church, in Meredith.He is predeceased by a brother, John S. Quinn, of Williamsburg, VA.Donald is survived by his wife of 59 years, Joan M. (Haire) Quinn, of Moultonborough; three sons, Paul S. Quinn and wife Dawn, of Thornton, Brian A. Quinn and wife Susan, of Alton, and Brendan C. Quinn and wife Anne Marie, of Meredith; two daughters, Patricia M. Quinn, of Meredith, and Maryanne E. Jensen, also of Meredith; six grandchildren, Nathan Hormell, of Oklahoma City, OK, Elizabeth Hormell, of Meredith, Daniel and Patrick Quinn, both of Alton, and Andrew and Erinn Quinn, both of Meredith.Memorials:Memorial contributions in Donald's name may be made to a charity of one's choice.Visitation:A calling hour will be held on Saturday, March 20, 2010, at Mayhew Funeral Home, (Rtes. 3 and 104) Meredith, from 8:30 am thru 9:45 am. Service:A Mass of Christian Burial will follow the calling hour and will be celebrated at St. Charles - Borromeo Catholic Church, in Meredith at 10:30 am. The Rev. Richard B. Thompson will officiate.Cemetery:Interment will be held at Oakland Cemetery, in Meredith, and will be announced at a later date.
