Donald F. Mosman, 70, of Plymouth, passed away at his home unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 12, 2014.
Born in New Milford, CT, on October 17, 1943, he was the son of Donald F. and Helen (Hall) Mosman, Sr. "Donnie" was raised in New Milford, graduating from the New Milford High School. After graduation he worked for the Amphenol Co., as a mechanical inspector and also for the State of Connecticut for several years before attending the Connecticut Police Standards Training Academy, of Meriden, CT.
Donnie served as a police officer with the Town of Danbury, CT, retiring after eight years due to an auto accident on the job which left him legally blind.
He was a member of the Elks, and joined the Plymouth Lions Club in 1984 working his way up through the ranks becoming president. In 1986 he became very active in the greater Lions district, and in 1995-96 he was the district governor for district 44N. He received many awards for his dedicated work with the Lions, and was very proud of his service with the organization.
Donnie was well known throughout the Plymouth community; he was a kind and caring man who helped anyone he could. He had stockpiled medical equipment over the years and was always helping others by loaning it to those in need so that they could be comfortable in their homes.
Donnie is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Carol (Keaveney) Mosman, of Plymouth; sister, Susan Bechill and husband Mark, of Ipswich, MA; brother, Gregory Mosman and wife Sally, of Bushnell, FL; brother-in-law, John Keaveney and wife Carol, of Sunset Beach, NC; sister-in-law, Faith Keaveney, of CT; brother-in-law, William Keaveney, of CT; several nieces and nephews.
