Donald Myrton Evans

Early in the morning of April 18, Don passed away with his daughter Jane at his side. He was 89.

Don began his life in Belmont, Mass in December of 1924. He served in the U.S. Navy in the Philippines, married his wife Dorothy in 1949, and graduated from Northeastern University in 1950. Thereafter, he and Dot relocated to Fairhaven, Mass where they raised two children. He began and ended his working career as an industrial engineer at Acushnet Co.

His boyhood memories were of summers on Welch Island on Winnipesaukee and hiking many of the four thousand footers in the White Mountains. Later in life, he moved to the lakes region, where he sold real estate for a number of years. Many of his most enjoyable and special moments of that time in life were spent with his two grandchildren, Chapin and Harrison.

Don was a man who, right until the end, had never an unkind word for anyone. He was a life-long member of the Episcopal Church and spent many an hour volunteering for Lutheran social services and community health and hospice. His wife Dorothy passed away in 2012, and Don spent his final years at the New Hampshire Veteran's Home in Tilton. He is survived by his two children: Jane Evans, of Saco, ME; and David Evans, of Meredith, NH. He is also survived by a daughter-in-law, Joyce Evans and two grandchildren, Chapin and Harrison Evans.

To honor Don's memory, the family is requesting that donations be made to New Hampshire Veteran's Home, 139 Winter St. Tilton, NH 03276
