TILTON, N.H. - Cdr. Donald Lewis Campbell, USN Ret., 91, passed away December 18, 2014, at the New Hampshire Veterans Home in Tilton, NH.
 
 
 Don was born on December 3rd, 1923, the son of Lewis and Catharine (Lewis) Campbell, in Leominster, MA. Don enlisted in the United States Navy in 1942 and trained to be a Naval Pilot. He was commanding officer of VA-56 in the early1960s and then on the Admirals Staff on the USS Hancock in Vietnam. After Don retired in 1965, the family moved from California to Wentworth, NH. Don obtained his bachelor's and master's degrees from Plymouth State Teachers College, then taught chemistry, physics, and aeronautics at Newfound Regional High School, which he will fondly be remembered for. Don continued his love for flying with aerial photography of Northern New Hampshire.
 
 
 Don is survived by his children, Nancy (and Steve) Wirtes of Norfolk, MA, Bruce (and Elaine) Campbell of Meredith, NH, and Doug (and Cindy) Campbell of Wentworth, NH; five grandchildren, Brian, Matthew, and Catharine ("Cassie") Campbell and Jenna and Steven ("Spike") Wirtes; and four nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Isabel (Pimental) Campbell, in 2001 and by his sister, Eleanor Campbell, in 2013.
