David Lawrence Healy

David Lawrence Healy, 79, of Sandwich, passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2013 at Concord Hospital after a brief illness.

Born in Newark, NJ on October 5, 1934, he was the son of C. Lawrence and Marjorie (Osgood) Healy. David was raised in Montclair, NJ and Cape Cod, MA. He graduated from the Montclair High School and entered the U.S. Army. After completing his service in the armed forces David attended the Southern Illinois University where he earned a Master's Degree in Education.

David dedicated his life to education and worked as a teacher in the Caldwell, NJ and Kingston, MA school districts. He was a member of the Masons and the Shriners. David also participated in many American Revolution colonial parades and re-enactments. He also had a deep love for woodworking.

David was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather who will be greatly missed by his family.

He is predeceased by his two brothers, Richard and Robert Healy.

David is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Karen (Fenwick) Healy, of Sandwich; son, Jon Healy and wife Jill, of Sutton, MA; daughter, Sue Healy and husband Philip Cohen, of South Orange, NJ; three special grandchildren, Rachel Healy and Kermit and Calliope Cohen; sister, Betsy Shelby and husband Gerry, of Georges Mills, NH; sister-in-laws, Marion Healy, of Fairfield, NJ, and Jane Healy, of Harwich, MA; David is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
