David A. Bassett, 74, Geneve St., died March 3, 2017 at the Genesis Rehabilitation Center, in Laconia, NH, after a period of failing health.
Born in New Bedford, MA., on June 23, 1942, he was the son of Allen and Barbara (MacKay) Bassett.
David grew up on Cuttyhunk Island, MA and attended schools in Fairhaven, MA. He has been a resident of Moultonborough for many years.
David worked as a Refrigeration Technician for Curran Electric in Portland for many years.
David's hobbies in his younger days were model boats and computers. Later in his life, computers, paper statues and 3d printing. David loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, boating, camping, bird watching and anything that had to do with animals and nature.
David is survived by his children, Kerri L. Basset of Calhoun, GA., Scott A. Bassett of Lisbon, FL., Christopher A. Bassett, and Raymond T. Bassett and his wife Bonnie, all of Moultonborough, NH., Todd Maloney and his wife Jen of Biddeford, ME., nieces and nephews, 11 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren. David was predeceased by his loving wife Carol who passed away on November 26,2013.
Calling hours will be held at the Mayhew Funeral Home, Routes #3 and #104, Meredith, on Thursday, Mar. 9th, 6pm to 8pm. Please dress casual as that will be appropriate to remember David. A private burial will be held in the Bourne National Veterans Cemetery, in Bourne, MA.
