David T Allen

April 15, 1947 — March 22, 2015

"Well lift your head up high and take a walk in the sun with dignity and stick-to-it-ness and ya show the world, ya show the world... you'll never give up, never give up, never give up..." -Eddie Lawrence

David T. Allen, 67, of Center Barnstead, NH, passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2015. He said that the Eddie Lawrence song, The Old Philosopher, was our family song. He certainly lived by the Old Philosopher's philosophy. He never gave up his dream of becoming a pilot and when he became one, he worked hard to teach others to fly, eventually becoming a captain for Southwest Airlines. He loved to be in the sky.

He was born on April 15, 1947 in Hartford, CT to the late Arthur Allen and Margaret Andrew Allen. He dearly loved his wife and children and is survived by his wife, Janet; daughters Jennifer Sorrell and husband Josh and Jillien Klok and husband Garrett; granddaughters Eve and Mae Klok; sister Susan Story and husband Stephen; and brother Arthur Allen. In addition to his parents, brothers Robert and Henry preceded him in death.

David liked to hunt and he loved to fish. He loved to laugh and made friends wherever he went. His favorite times, when not in the sky, were those spent with family at home, in Florida with Janet, fishing on Lake Winnipesaukee, and reminiscing at family get-togethers at the Village Beach Club in Meredith, where he grew up.

He was a proud veteran, who served in the United States Coast Guard in San Diego. He was almost as passionate as Janet about UNH hockey and Patriots football.

Memorials may be made to the New Hampshire Fish and Game Children's Fishing Education Program. 11 Hazen Drive, Concord, N.H. 03301

David will be missed by all who loved him and remembered fondly by all whose lives he touched.
