Dana Herman Pearson

Dana Herman Pearson, 77, formerly of Center Sandwich, NH, died April 18, 2009, at his home, in Laconia.     He was born in Bartlett, NH, on April 6, 1932, the son of Herman W. and Flora [Huckins] Pearson. Dana grew up in North Ashland and graduated from Ashland High School, class of 1950. He then graduated from the University of New Hampshire, class of 1954, utilizing ROTC and sub sequentially served in the army for two years in Europe. He had been a resident of Sandwich for over fifty years, and has resided in Laconia for the past two years.     From 1953 to 1965, Dana worked for Pearson Paint and Hardware. In addition, he worked twenty years for Head's Electric, in Laconia. Dana is well remembered as a hard working, honest real estate agent, in Sandwich, retiring in 2005.     Dana was a fifty-year member of the Federated Church of Sandwich and was active in church affairs as a member of the choir, Chairman of Trustees, and Financial Secretary. Most recently, he has been a member of the United Baptist Church of Lakeport.      Dana was very active in the Sandwich community, serving the town in many ways including; Director of the Sandwich Fair Association and Buildings Superintendent, Wentworth Library Trustee, Trustee of Trust Funds, Zoning Board of Adjustment, and member of the Sandwich volunteer Fire Department. In the past, he was also the Director of the Center of Hope and actively participated in the Meredith T.O.P.S. Chapter.     Dana was very proud of the fact that he has given over twenty-seven gallons of blood in his lifetime and spent time recruiting others to give the "gift of life." He enjoyed his early morning walks and spending time with the North Sandwich Store "Coffee Shop Group." Other interests include interacting with and helping people, the Pearson family NH Purple Raspberry patch behind his Sandwich home, working and walking on the fairgrounds while watching the full moon come up over Black Snout Mountain, and actively participating in the lives of his four grandchildren.     He is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Jean [Obermeyer] Pearson of Laconia, daughters, Jennifer P. Vierus of Sandwich, Heather P. Booska of Tamworth, and Dagmar Pearson of No. Conway, grandchildren, Nick and Tess Vierus, Ben and Justin Booska, brothers, David Pearson, of Ellensburg, WA, Erwin Pearson of Fruita, CO, sister, Linda Pearson of Meredith, many nieces and nephews.
