Creta Mary Brown

Wentworth- Creta Mary Taylor Brown 92, of 9 Browns Lane, passed away unexpectedly at Dartmouth Hitchcock Memorial Hospital, in Lebanon, on Friday August 8, 2014.

Creta was born June 1, 1922 in Laconia New Hampshire; she was the daughter of Dana and Nina Taylor.
Living in Holderness she attended local schools and furthered her education at the Laconia Hospital School of Nursing earning her RN Degree. She took her first position at the Psychiatric Hospital in Norwhich Connecticut.

Creta Joined the Army Nurse Corps in May 1945. She was assigned as a 2nd Lieutenant to a Hospital Ship that traveled to Panama during World War II then transferred to Fitzsimons General Hospital in Denver Colorado.

On June 14, 1947 she married Harold B Brown in Holderness New Hampshire. They made their home on the family farm in Wentworth New Hampshire.

She was active in the community as a founding member of many boards and committees including being a 64 plus year member of the Wentworth Congregational Church. She ended her nursing career when she retired as the director of nursing at Glencliff home for the elderly.

Creta was pre-deceased by her infant son George, her daughter Barbara Brown and her husband of 63 years Harold Breck Brown.

Survivors include her daughters Patsy Brown of Piermont New Hampshire, Deborah Louise Mauchly of Piermont New Hampshire, Jayne Bixby of Wentworth New Hampshire, her grandchildren Annie Hutchins, Amy Howe, Samuel Howe, Charles Howe, Chenoa Tremblay, John Howe, Alexander Hutchins, Bridget Barnard, Sarah Ligsay and Justin Bixby, her great grandchildren O Siris Leggett, Franky Busby, Helena Tremblay, Stella Busby, Alex Howe, Isaac Barnard and Elliot Barnard.
