MEREDITH --- Cornelius J. McIntire, 96, of Meredith, NH (formerly of Canton, MA), died on Saturday, June 28, 2025, peacefully at home. Beloved husband of the late Kathleen A McIntire for over 60 years, and father to the late Cornelius McIntire Jr of Phoenix. He dedicated his life to his family at home and school with his endless kindness, generosity and humorous wit.
Cornelius “Neil” settled in Canton with his wife after serving as a Marine Corps Captain, deployed to the Korean conflict. He was a science teacher and principal of Pierce junior high school. A job he dearly loved.
He loved the NH lakes region and was an avid water & snow skier. He purchased his 1st pair of water skis in Boston and brought them home on the train. When he retired to Meredith, he enjoyed boating and sitting on the beach or his deck spending time with neighbors and family. We called him the unofficial mayor of Meredith.
Cornelius leaves behind his sister, Mary Arvin Mahoney of Milton; his three children, Steven McIntire and wife MaryBeth of Mansfield, Irene Curley and husband Neil of Wareham, and Kathie McIntire of Nashua. He was proud Pop to 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
