Clara "Claire" Louise Whitcher, 68, of Thornton, passed away on Sunday, February 24, 2013 at the Golden View Health Care Center, in Meredith surrounded by her loving family after a lengthy illness.
 
 
 Born in Campton, NH on September 5, 1944, she was the daughter of Luther and Irene (Nelson) Landon (of the Abenaki Indian Tribe). Claire was raised in Campton attending local schools.
 
 
 Claire worked for the Rochester Shoe Tree Manufacturing Plant for over 20 years. Her most joyful times were spent caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her hobbies included puzzles, playing Bingo and feeding her local birds.
 
 
 Claire was a thoughtful and giving person who always put the needs of others before herself. She will be dearly missed by her family and all those whose lives were touched by her.
 
 
 She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Morris "Mossy" Whitcher, and brother, Frank Landon, of Campton.
 
 
 Claire is survived by her four children, Veronica Barton and husband Mike, of Thornton, Wendy Stevens, of Laconia, James Piascik and his wife Jennifer, of Wentworth, and Nicole Piascik, of Manchester; eight grandchildren, Andrew and Joshua Hill, and Aaron Barton, all of Thornton, Jessica Piascik, of Rochester, Lindsey Sorell, of Meredith, and Amber Silva, of Laconia, Scott Barton and wife Tabatha, of Claremont, Megan McCann and husband Frank, of Manchester; ten great-grandchildren, Matthew, Allyanna, Ethen, Isabella, Aurora, Cheyenne, Dante, Ayden, Shayleigh, and Rachel; brother, Luther Landon and wife Tekla, of TN, and sister, Doris Jones, of Bristol, NH.
