BRENTWOOD---Charles L. Roberts, 77, passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness on Thursday, February 22nd, surrounded by his loved ones.

Charlie recently moved to Brentwood, NH, although he lived most of his life in Merrimack and Madison. He was born in Laconia on February 28, 1940 and was raised in Meredith. He was the son of the late Charles N. and Geraldine B Roberts. After graduating from Inter-Lakes High School, he served in the U.S. Navy for four years, deployed as an instrument and radar specialist on destroyer class ships throughout the world, including the Bay of Pigs Invasion of Cuba. He was graduate of Belknap College and received an MBA from Rivier University.

Charlie worked many years at Kollsman Instruments (Elbit Systems) in Merrimack. While raising their two boys, he volunteered on the Merrimack Youth Association Basketball and Baseball committees. He was an avid runner, mountain biker and basketball fan. He was also active in town government, serving on the Zoning Board and Budget Committee. He was also an active Rotarian in Merrimack and Ossipee.

Charlie is survived by his wife of forty-nine years, Ellen (Tierney), two sons and two daughters-in-law; Brian and Amy Roberts of Newburyport, MA, Sean and Abby Roberts of Nahan, MA, and the joys of his life, his 5 grandchildren; Lindsey, Owen, Theo, Tiernan, and Madelyn. He is also survived by his three sisters; Janis Roberts of Meredith, NH, Brenda Kissam of Burlington, VT, and Karen Kwasigroh of Beaufort, NC, as well as many lifelong friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association in Charlie's name.

There will a funeral service on Monday March 5, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Congregational Church in Meredith, NH.
