RUMNEY -- Charles “Chuck” Hanscom, 55, of Rumney, NH, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, September 1, 2025.
Chuck was born on February 21, 1970, to Diane (Baker) and Charles “Ray” Hanscom of Rockland, MA. He studied carpentry at the South Shore Vocational Technical High School and graduated in 1988. Over the next 15 years, he worked alongside his father as they built and remodeled laundromats in the Boston area.
After his father’s death in 2002, Chuck moved to the Upper Valley of New Hampshire where he spent the next several years tending to sheep for Fruitcake Farm.
Chuck is survived by his three siblings: brother, David (Amy) Hanscom of Pembroke, MA, sisters, Joanne Bisson of Canaan, NH, and Carol (David) Hanscom of Cohasset, MA; six nieces and nephews; and one great-nephew. In addition to his parents, Chuck was predeceased by his sister, Lynda Hanscom.
A lover of the outdoors, Chuck found peace in nature’s quiet beauty. His spiritual side drew strength and solace from crystals and healing stones, reflecting a deep belief in the power of inner harmony. He was an avid reader and never turned down a good game of cribbage. Chuck had a lifelong dream of visiting Costa Rica. His resilience, curiosity, and gentle spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Services will be private in accordance with Chuck’s wishes.
