Cathy Barile

January 15, 1955 — September 4, 2015

Cathy Lee Barile, 60, of Wagon Wheel Trail, Meredith, died September 4, 2015, at her home, surrounded by her family overlooking the lake, after a long illness.

Born in Lynn, Massachusetts on January 15, 1955, she was the daughter of Raymond and Barbara (Paige) Barile.

Cathy grew up in Lynn and graduated from the Lynn English High School, in Lynn, class of 1972. She resided in the North shore area before residing in Littleton and Wakefield Massachusetts. Cathy has been a resident of Meredith since 2000.

Cathy worked for twenty-five years and was a project manager for the NYNEX Corporation, in Massachusetts. She also has worked at Cackleberries Garden and Gift Shop, in Meredith, for the past ten years. Being an avid quilter, Cathy also helped out at Keepsake Quilting, in Center Harbor, and was employed there for two years.

Cathy was a member of the Meredith Altrusa Club.

Cathy had many interests in her life and excelled at all of them. From fine arts like quilting, needlepoint and knitting, to imaginative original crafts, writings and graphic design. She was an avid sportswoman who played
many sports, loved tennis and golf, mastered the art of fly fishing and tamed snowy mountains on skis.

She helped renovate and construct a wonderful home on the shores of Winnipesaukee and spent many restful hours enjoying the serenity of the lake on summer evenings. Though she had no background in it, she learned the skills in gardening, plants and all things green which became the gardens all around her home. This also led to her time at Cackleberries, where gardening was woven into the loving friends she made there.

She loved to listen to John and friends playing music wherever and however it could happen and she was a pivotal part in making those events happen. She and John produced two back to back Food Aid Concerts in
Meredith sponsored by Altrusa and benefiting the Lakes Region Food Banks. Her organizational talents are legendary. She loved to travel and was a resourceful, happy road trip companion.

But most of all, Cathy loved cooking. With skills taught to her at an early age by her best friend, Cathy went on to a life of creating inspirational meals from simple ingredients. One of her favorite things to do was to
conduct a symphony of taste in the kitchen while John played instrumental music from the other room.

She has touched the lives of people all over and will be missed by her friends and family in the Northeast, Florida and the West Coast.

Cathy was predeceased by her brother, Raymond Barile.

Cathy is survived by her husband of twenty-three years, John R. Rafuse, of Meredith, a brother, Jeffrey Barile, of Lynn, MA, a sister, Cindy Gallo, of Peabody, MA, two nieces and a nephew.

An intimate gathering of her dear friends will be held in early October.
