HOLDERNESS----- Brian E. Scothorne, 79, passed away December 30th, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family after a short battle with cancer.
Brian was the son of Ernest Scothorne and June Woodward Scothorne.
Brian was born in Bethel, Maine on May 21, 1944. He attended Gould Academy, where he played football and was also part of the competitive ski team. After high school Brian began his journey in entrepreneurship when he opened a service station in Naples, Maine which was the first of many businesses that he would own throughout his life. Brian moved to Meredith, NH in the early 1960’s and quickly became a well-known member of the community. He owned a clothing store which had a few locations throughout the lakes region but spent the majority of his career working as a car salesman for Meredith Ford for just over 30 years. After retiring from Ford, Brian owned and operated a restaurant called Riverside in Ashland, NH for 5 years.
Brian enjoyed traveling, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, driving his fox body mustang, hunting, fishing, volunteering with the Kiwanis club in Meredith, and spending time with his friends and most importantly his family. Some of Brian’s fondest memories were the days spent in Pittsburg, NH at his camp, and more recently over the last 20 years at his cottage in Parsonsfield, Maine on West Pond.
Brian is predeceased by his son Keaten Gallagher. Brian is survived by his wife, and best friend of 26 years, Nancy J. Scothorne, his three daughters Michelle Mokos and husband Joe of Calabash, NC, Kara Gallagher of Meredith, NH, Lindsey Gallagher and her husband Luc Bourgeois of Dracut, Ma, his son William Scothorne of Virginia and his sister Gail Kalloch of Gorham, ME. Brian leaves behind several grandchildren; Anthony, Ally, Riley, and Benjamin Scothorne, David, Kevin, and Corey Mokos, Ariannah Roy, and his great grandson Keaten Mokos. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews. Brian was a family man and was so proud of his family.
Services will be held at the Ashland United Methodist Church on Friday January 12, 2024, at 11:00am.
