Obituary

Meredith - Betty Ann Fennell, 88, of Meredith, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 6, 2026, following a brief illness.

Born on May 28, 1937, in Laconia, New Hampshire, Betty was the only daughter of the late Algie Veasey and Effie (King) Veasey.

Betty attended Meredith High School where she was involved in numerous school activities including Student Council, Honor Society, Glee Club, Typing, Basketball and Majorettes among many others. She graduated in the class of 1955.

Betty found great joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved bowling with her best friend Margaret, affectionately known as "Magnum," and cherished spending time with her beloved grandchildren. Betty also enjoyed working at her youngest son Robert's restaurant, Back in Thyme, in Center Harbor. She especially loved socializing with customers from nearby businesses where she organized large lunch orders. She had a charismatic and kind smile that could brighten anyone's day.

Later in life, Betty lived in Meredith with her grandson, Robert Jay, on the property where she had grown up. One of her favorite past times was watching the birds gather at the feeder outside the kitchen window and looking out across the pond.

Betty will be remembered for her warmth, her humor, and the love she shared with those around her. she leaves behind a legacy of successful children and beautiful grandchildren. Her granddaughter, Christine, fondly remembers their New Year's Eve tradition. From the time Christine was six years old and able to use a rotary phone, she and her Nan would call each other before the ball dropped and talk into the new year.

Betty is survived by her children, Leslie Dickey and his wife Beth of Alexandria; Robert King and his wife Barbara of Moultonborough; Kathleen Leiper and her husband Dave of Sandwich; and Jodi Potter of Manchester. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Joshua, Robert, Christine, Cassey, Adam, Noah, Lily, Mia, and Jermaine Jr., as well as five beloved great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held for Betty Ann Fennell in the Spring.
