Betsy J Switzer

Betsy J. Switzer, 80; of Center Sandwich, New Hampshire passed away peacefully following a brief illness on August 23, 2018 with family by her side. She was born August 22, 1938 in Bangor, Maine to late parents Joan Fellows and Paul A. Kline. She attended Bangor High School and is an honorary member of the Class of 1957 and graduated her senior year from Montgomery Blair High School in Silver Spring, Maryland. She attended Husson College and graduated from University of Maine Class of 1978 with a degree in Interior Design.
Betsy was a very active mother and volunteer member of community affairs in both Maine and New Hampshire. In Bangor, Maine Betsy was a very active member of the Women's Junior League. Betsy was also the manager of the Children's department at Porteuos Mitchell, Bangor Mall, and Teacher's Aide at Vine Street Elementary School.
Betsy met her husband, Alan Switzer, Jr. in Bangor 1979. Betsy joined Alan as partner of the Sandwich Aquatic School in Center Sandwich, NH. In 1990 they moved permanently to Center Sandwich NH to establish their full-time residence and commitment to the close-knit community.
Betsy was a vibrant member of the community in Center Sandwich where she worked at the League of NH Craftsmen, Sandwich Home Industries for many years. Betsy was a member of the Sandwich Women's Club and was Treasurer for several years. She was actively involved with the garden club and was an active participant in care giving activities. She was a collector of Byers' Carolers, loved animals, and enjoyed her flower gardens. Her generosity and love for her family and friends were immeasurable.
Predeceased by her first husband Roy G. Husson (Bangor Maine) and Brother Richard Kline (Washington, DC). She is survived by her loving husband of 38 years Alan Switzer; Sister Gretchen Gipson and her husband Robert Gipson (Ocala, Florida); Cousin Beth Fellows Vetter and husband John Vetter (Jefferson, Maine); Cousin Jean L. Vetter (North Smithfield, Rhode Island).
Lovingly remembered by cousins and many friends in Maine and New Hampshire, children, Joy Switzer Hazelwood and her husband Robert (WI); Derek Husson (Lisbon, Maine) and his wife Susan; Gretchen Switzer Hucks (Mercer Island, WA); Debra L Husson (So. China, Maine); Jeffrey Switzer (Colorado Springs, CO) and his wife Terry; Alan Switzer, III (Seattle, Washington) and his wife Ann. Grandchildren, Ashley Husson, Lindsey Switzer, Bowen Hucks. Chelsea Husson Walsh and her husband Michael; Cody, Maura and Hugh Switzer. Great Grand-daughter, Eleanor Lynn Walsh.

There will be a memorial service with a reception following, to celebrate Betsy's life on September 8, 2018 at 1:00PM at the Crafts building on the Sandwich Fairgrounds, Center Sandwich, New Hampshire.
