MEREDITH---Arthur R. Morrill, 82, passed away on March 21, 2016 at Lakes Regional General Hospital following a brief illness.
Art was born October 30, 1933 in Bristol, CT, to Austin R. Morrill and Rosema (Daigneau) Morrill. After graduating from Bristol Tech. High School in 1951, Art enlisted in the U.S. Army and served 20 years as a medic. Art's service began at the 28th General Hospital in Croix-Chapeau, France, followed by several assignments including Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Maryland, Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii, Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas and two tours of duty in Vietnam. Art finished his career in New London, Connecticut as a recruiter.
After retiring from the Army, Art married Nancy (Hood ) Morrill in 1974 in Meredith, NH. Art worked as a driver for Peaslee Transportation for nearly 20 years. Whether working his school bus route or driving private groups, Art always enjoyed the company of his passengers and made a lasting impression.
Art served for several years as the Commander of the American Legion Post 33 Griggs Wyatt in Meredith, as well as being involved in the Daniel Webster Council of the Boy Scouts of America with both his sons.
Art and Nancy traveled extensively, enjoying visits to Europe and throughout the United States. Family and friends always appreciated Art's perspective on the world, enjoying stories of his youth and unique outlook on world events. Art enjoyed all of his grandchildren and they will long remember the family history and traditions that he taught them. In recent years his constant companion was his Jack Russell Terrier, Molly.
Art is survived by his wife of 41 years, Nancy, his brother; Austin Morrill and wife Polly of Moultonborough, his children, Kerry and Teri Morrill of Gilford, Gavin and Mary Macdonald of Meredith, Shelley and Mike Costantini of Hudson, his grandchildren; Danielle Morrill, Adam and Stephanie Gleeson, Jason and his wife Esteissy, Sean and Clarissa Macdonald , Alexander, Benjamin and Joshua Costantini, and his great-grandchildren; Seamus and Katriana and Alexandra Gleeson, Cierra Stull and Logan Macdonald. Art also had several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins. Art was predeceased by his brother; William "Timer" Morrill, Sister; Marie Lozefski, and his daughter Karen Morrill Nason.
