Annemarie Luscher, 95, of Gilford, passed away on Friday, June 25, 2021, at home surrounded by her loving family.
Annemarie, otherwise called Dosi (short for Grandmother in Swiss German) was born in Linthal, Switzerland on May 23, 1926, to Heinrich and Anna Schiesser-Hefti. She was one of seven children. She traveled to England as an Au Pair to learn English. After spending a year in England, she made her way to the United States. She landed in New Jersey where she found a German choir to join and met her husband, Henry O. Luscher.
Annemarie and Henry were married in Sharon, Massachusetts, and had three children, Peter, Sylvia, and Paul in Wayne, New Jersey. They relocated to Gilford, New Hampshire as it reminded them of Switzerland and brought them closer to the mountains.
Annemarie was passionate about being the best hostess and always loved to prepare for her guests and family. She loved to garden, bake, knit, hike, and ski. She had the most joy sharing the Gospel and Love of Jesus.
Annemarie is survived by a daughter Sylvia A. McCarthy and her husband Kevin; a son Paul H. Luscher and his wife Heidi; four grandchildren, Ashley, Brianna, Mariah Luscher; Morgan McCarthy; two sisters; three brothers; many nieces and nephews still residing in Switzerland.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Henry. O Luscher; her son Peter W. Luscher, and her sister Margrit Duerst-Schiesser.
Funeral Services will be held at Evangelical Baptist Church on 50 Washington Street, Lakeport, on Tuesday, July 13 at 10 am. Pastor Brian Green will officiate. Burial will follow in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Gilford.
