Alma Alice (Whitehead) Sleeper, 88 of Texas Hill Road in Plymouth passed away at home on August 16, 2016 with her grandson and caregiver Donahue Clogston by her side. She was born in Plymouth on October 20, 1927, daughter of the late Elmer and Madeline (Bagley) Whitehead. She was a lifelong resident of Plymouth and attended Plymouth Schools.
Alma's favorite thing to do was to go for a ride... a long-long ride! She was a member and treasurer of the American Auxiliary Durand Haley Post 66 in Plymouth. She was also a member of the Rebeccas. She worked for several businesses in Plymouth and helped her late husband, Louis A. Sleeper with their service gas station for many years. Alma was a wonderful wife and mother.
Alma is survived by her four daughters; Bonnie Sears of Plymouth, Susan Clogston of Thonotosans, FL, Sandy Shackelford of Lebanon, TN, and Terry Smith of Rumney. She also was survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, her brother Leroy Whitehead and his wife Ann of Plymouth. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
SERVICES: Family and friends will honor and remember Alma's life by gathering for calling hours in the Mayhew Funeral Home, 12 Langdon Street, Plymouth on Monday, August 22nd from 12:00 Noon to 2:00 PM followed by a graveside service in Riverside Cemetery, Plymouth.
