Allan L McCranie, Age 88, husband of Metta V McCranie of 65 years of Holderness passed away unexpectedly on May 16th, 2021 peacefully at home, after a short illness with family by his side.

Allan was born on April 21st,1933 in Manchester New Hampshire to his late parents Eleanor and Bryant McCranie. He grew up residing in Holderness with Mary and John Greenleaf before settling in Holderness where he lived for 47 years and where he attended and graduated from Plymouth High School.

Allan McCranie was the owner of The Yankee Tobacco and Candy Co., where he eventually retired from in 1995. He was also a veteran of the Korean War having served in the Air Force for 4 years.

Allan was a devoted husband and father who deeply cherished time with his family and friends. He especially enjoyed family get togethers and events that included cookouts and holidays. Allan had a loving and gentle nature with a great sense of humor. He was also an avid animal lover with a soft spot for wolves. He loved the outdoors including hunting and fishing and the nights he would spend reading.

In addition to his wife, Metta, Allan will be dearly missed by his two daughters Lynn of Meredith, NH and Debbie and her husband Tony of Hill, NH. He also leaves behind his sister Carol Haley of Swanzey NH, his sister-in-law Brenda of Campton NH, and his son in law Frank of Holderness, NH. He also leaves behind 6 grandchildren, Nathan, Christine, Amber, Nicole, April, Scott and 5 more great grandchildren. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. Allan was predeceased by his mother and father Eleanor and Bryant McCranie. His two sisters Doris and Joan and his daughter Wanda.

Allan's family would like to express their deep gratitude to the Pemi-Baker Community Health staff for their excellent care and kindness. And his wonderful neighbors Amanda and Derek for all their help, kindness and support throughout his illness.
