Alice Laura Avery, 94, of Beech Hill Rd died November 6th, 2023, in Laconia, New Hampshire.
Born in the Cookeville part of Plymouth, she spent her life here, growing up on “The Farm” with her late parents, Arthur P. and S. Margaret Avery, her late sisters Margaret R. Avery and Mary E. (Avery) Greenwood, and her late brother Arthur E. Avery.
She attended the one-room Livermore School and graduated from Plymouth High School. She worked as a nurse’s aide for much of her life, caring for the sick and elderly in the hospital in her early career and privately in homes later in life. She was a sweet, gentle, kind soul, and enjoyed being of service. She tended to the sick
whether they be human or animal. She had numerous pets throughout her life of all kinds, including an orphaned porcupine, she nursed back to health in her childhood. Alice was a direct descendant of Rev. Nathan Ward, the first minister of the Plymouth Congregational Church for whom Ward Hill is named and was a lifelong member of that church. She enjoyed bird watching, travel and puzzle books.
She leaves her nephew Andrew Greenwood and his wife Beth, great nieces Lorie and Julie Greenwood, great nephew Kyle Greenwood (son of the late Ronald and Eileen Greenwood), and nephew Scott Gray, along with many friends.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 11th, 2023, at 11:00 am at the Riverside Cemetery, 62 Fairgrounds Rd, Plymouth, NH.
The family kindly suggests in lieu of flowers donations be made to the NH Audubon Society.
