Olinda (Linda) Lopes (Aguiar), 93, of Campton, NH, passed away peacefully July 4, 2020, at Concord Hospital Hospice House surrounded by the love of her family after a period of declining health. Linda was born in New Bedford, MA on November 28th, 1926, and lived the majority of her life on Luke St. in New Bedford, MA before moving to Campton, NH in 2006. She attended the former Smith Neck School in South Dartmouth, MA.

In all her years she was always a hard worker but she was most proud of her years at
Gaspar’s Sausage Co. in North Dartmouth, MA. Gaspar’s always treated her like family. Linda’s talents were best displayed as a Mom, Wife, Sister, Aunt, Cousin, Grandmother, Godmother, and Friend.

A devout Catholic, she spent many years attending St. John The Baptist Church in New Bedford, MA where she was an active member and in the Couples Club putting on events for the Church. While making many friends through the church, none so much as her friendship with Father Manuel Ferreira, who remained lifelong friends until her death.

Linda will be remembered for her loving nature and great sense of humor, She loved to laugh and always had a funny joke to tell. She was the life of the party and her presence always made everything fun. She was generous, kind, loving and considerate of others and their well being.

Linda was married on June 19, 1948 to the love of her life, Richard L. Lopes and was happily married for over 72 years! For many years they enjoyed vacationing with family and friends “in the mountains” on Rust Pond in Wolfeboro, NH. In their later years they went on many cruises and loved going out to lunch. They met many great waiters, waitresses, bartenders and restaurant owners who they befriended and made their lunch outings special. Having friends and family around the table was what made Linda the happiest.

Linda will be dearly missed by her children; daughter Linda S. Lopes and husband Michael Rickman of Campton, NH. son Paul R. Lopes and wife Stacy S. Lopes of Campton, NH, and her “adopted son and daughter” Philip “Pete” Stone and Diane Stone of Campton, NH. She was also the proud grandmother to her only grandchild Tabitha J. Lopes whom she loved very much and helped raise to be a beautiful person.

Linda also leaves behind her loving sister Dorothy Mello of South Dartmouth, MA along with many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Maria (Costa) Aguiar, 4 brothers; Joseph Aguiar, William Aguiar, Luiz Aguiar, David Aguiar, and 2 sisters; Alice Andrade and Etelvina Sylvia.

As her wishes, there will be no viewing hours and a private family service and burial will be held. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to St. Matthews Church in Plymouth, NH.

Dear Paul, my deepest sympathies go out to you for the loss of your mother. Back when we were in high school, I had the opportunity to meet your mom only once. But I very clearly remember thinking, "So this is why Paul is as nice of a guy as he is... look where he comes from!" Your parents were as lovely and kind and friendly as anyone could ever hope to be. This made an quick but lasting impression on me. ☺ Truly. Please take care in these next moments of life with your family. Never stop sharing memories with each other. This is what will keep her spirit alive.
Love, Lynn (Wilkinson) Ostiguy 💗
