Don spent many happy summers in North Sandwich, NH where he joined the Sandwich Jr. Historical Society in the 1930’s and eventually the Appalachian Mt. Club.

After graduating from the Reading public schools and during WWII, in 1946, Don received his BS degree in the Navy V-12 program at Tufts University, and as part of that program, he served as an Ensign on the USS Denver. He eventually went back to Tufts as a teaching fellow and earned his Masters of Ed degree. He then completed a teaching fellowship program at M.I.T, followed by a year of teaching at Monson Academy in Monson, MA. In 1951, during the Korean War, he was recalled as a Lieutenant in the Navy with a tour of duty on the USS Maury, a hydrographic ship, mapping the depths of the Persian Gulf.

He later returned to Harvard as a teaching fellow in Natural and Social Sciences as he completed his Doctorate in Science Education. He then spent 8 years with GE in Lynn, MA, the Small Aircraft Engine Dept., planning and directing an educational program for technical personnel, career counseling, arranging for visiting lecturer and establishing a coordinated program at M.I.T. Don always enjoyed teaching, which drew him to B.U. and for 29 years he was on the faculty of the School of Management. During his tenure he was an Associate Dean and Chairman of the Organizational Behavior Dept. He also traveled, consulting and lecturing throughout the country as well as Alaska, Canada, Brazil Caribbean Islands and Germany. Don was a member of Phi Delta Kappa and Beta Gamma Sigma honor societies and a trustee and/or member of several professional and civic organizations in the Boston area.

In 1978, he and his wife move to North Sandwich, NH where he became a Trustee of the Quimby Fund, a member of the Board of the “Sandwich Historical Society” and the author of “The Alfred Quimby Fund- The First 80 Years”. Don enjoyed writing light-hearted poetry, mostly in the manner of an “ode to” and has accumulated a portfolio of poems he has written about friends and relatives. He had a quiet and quick wit, a modest man, good and honest, who loved his family and friends and had a deep fondness for the mountains and the people and history on Sandwich.

Don grew up in Reading, MA, the son of George B. Pease and Florence (Dunmore) Pease and brother of Virginia Eszenyi and Russell B Pease (all deceased). His wife of 68 years is Elizabeth (West) Pease. His son is Dr. Jonathan P Pease and his wife Connie Bittner, his daughter Nancy E Pease. His niece, Dr. Elizabeth Snider and husband Michael. Grandchildren, Justin S Pease and wife Lauren Doyle, Drs. Sarah E Pease, husband, Aram Raissi and two great grandchildren, Penelope and Socha Pease.

A memorial service will be held on Sat. Nov. 10 at 11am at the Community Church of Sandwich, 12 Church St. Sandwich, NH 03227.
