Darlene Drechsel Toomey passed away peacefully on December 4th, 2019 in her home surrounded by her loved ones.

Darlene was born in New York, New York on July 1st, 1954 and spent her childhood in New Jersey with her parents and two younger brothers David and Matthew. She moved to New Hampshire in 1978 where she later married and started her family. Darlene was most proud her role as a mom and she loved her children Sadie and Ryan with all her heart. Darlene has two granddaughters, Elise and Chloe, who she enjoyed immensely. She passed on her keen knack for card games and love of anything sparkly to Chloe and loved to listen to Elise tell silly stories and watch her play sports. She was a true friend to many and loved by all.

Darlene found her passion in caring for others and she did so with commitment in both her personal and professional life. She served her community as a volunteer EMT and later earned her LNA license. She worked over 30 years helping to care for others, first as a home health aide and then as hospice coordinator. She proudly supported many families through her hospice work.

Darlene was predeceased by her parents Therese (O’Connor) Drechsel and Ralph Drechsel, her brother David Drechsel, and her former husband Rick Toomey. She is survived by her daughter Sadie Smith and husband Tim, her son Ryan Toomey, her brother Matthew Drechsel and wife Ginger, granddaughters Elise and Chloe and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, Darlene has requested that blood donations be made to their local blood bank or to the American Red Cross.

I had the pleasure of working with Darlene. She was a kind soul, who loved her family so much. She was so proud of her children and grandchildren. She was always there with a hug on hard days and gave so much support. She will be so very missed. Sending love and peace to her family and friends.

My sympathy goes out to Darlene's family and her ""professional" family at Pemi-Baker Home health.
She was a sweet lady with an incredibly big, loving heart.
Sincerely, Katherine Piper
