Condolence: I guess I have known John and his family all my life. I first remember him when he worked at Kelly's Auto.
Need to share a short story here. It was the first week of my freshman year (1960) and I had to have my appendicits out. My dad - Richard Collins, had promised me that he would stay with me and be there when I woke up. Dad sat by my bed for quite awhile but he smoked and needed to go have a cigerate. What does this have to do with John you are asking yourself. Well, it turned out that John's mother was there in the hospital also and he was there seeing her. My dad didnt want to leave me alone so he asked John to sit there with me while he ran out.
Just after my dad left I woke up. There sat this wounderful man, holding my hand and telling me it was ok. He told me that dad was there and would be right back.
John was a sweet and gentle man. Over the years when we would run into each other, we would joke about the time in the hospital.
My condolences to his family, he will be missed.
