Edward F Boswell

Edward F. Boswell, ?born September 5, 1923 to Alphonse and Alice (Gay) Boswell passed away May 5, 2020 at the age of 96 with his loving wife, Gale, by his side. Edward grew up in Whitefield, NH with his family. He grew up one of eight. He enlisted into the US Army at the age of 17 and served his country through WWII. His work earned him 2 medals. After his time of duty, he returned to home as a lineman residing in Whitefield. He was married to his wife Dorothy (JeanJaquet) Boswell. Together they purchased a home on Forest Lake and he welcomed her two sons, Barry and Gary Burke. After the passing of Dorothy in 1987, Ed met and fell in love with Gale Melanson of Holderness. Following approximately 27 years of courtship, the two married August 27, 2015. By this time Ed had come to know all of Gale's large family as his own. As many know, Ed preferred settings of small groups. Even so, he always enjoyed contributing to the gathering with his infamous potato salad no matter the size. Ed had a soft spot for children and although he didn't have any of his 'own,' he certainly had plenty to claim. He had a great love of dogs and built strong bonds with each that he owned. Ed was an avid coin collector; Proud, but not one to flash them around. He enjoyed bird watching and spent countless hours making note of the various birds he spotted, particularly at the house on the lake. He enjoyed gardening and warm weather, splitting his time between Whitefield and Florida. He was quite the squirt gun competitor and left many hidden among the forest lake property even as he transitioned into assisted living. Ed was never seen without a hat, more specifically a Fedora style hat. He wore his 'Bud Light' Fedora proud up until the day he died. A quiet reserved man, Ed's unique mannerisms we've come to love will be absent in the lives of those close to him. He will be missed by many. He leaves behind survivors his wife, Gale; her children Christine (John) Patridge, Steven (Kathryn) Melanson, and Mary-Jane (Billy Brooker) Melanson, all of Holderness NH; Connie Melanson (predeceased by Thomas Melanson)of Dorchester NH, Grandchildren Aron Gammons, Lyndsay Devine, Brian Gammons, Tosona Melanson, Brett Melanson, Randi Melanson-Ball, Tannar Hacker and Cole Brooker, whom was the first grandchild he cared for from infancy to adulthood; 13 great grandchildren with another one the way; and a niece he respected as a daughter, Dianne Brown. He also leaves behind Barry Burke of NY from his lovely marriage to Dorothy as well as numerous extended family. In respecting Ed's social comforts, there will be no services. Instead, tip your hat to the sun and sip a cold one in your place of comfort.
