William David Lyon

March 1, 1946 — September 25, 2015

William David Lyon, 69, of Moultonborough, passed away at his home unexpectedly on Friday, September 25, 2015.

He was born on March 1, 1946, in New Berlin, NY, the son of Herbert and Amanda (Robbins) Lyon. William was raised in New Berlin and attended local schools. After graduating high school he enlisted with the U.S. Navy and served with honor and courage aboard the USS Richmond K. Turner during the Vietnam War.

After his honorable discharge William returned to the U.S., married his wife Sally and together they relocated to Manlius, NY where they settled and raised their family. He worked in production at the Bristol Myers Squib Pharmaceutical Company, retiring after 15 years. He then went on to pursue his true passion by starting his own senior home care company which enabled him to provide loving companionship and care to those in need.

William was a man of deep faith which clearly defined him; his family worshiped at the First Baptist Church of Manlius, and when he and Sally retired to Moultonborough in 2011, they became dedicated members of the Center Harbor Congregational Church. William was very generous with his time and volunteered with the Lakes Region Food Pantry and Interlakes Community Caregivers.

Bill loved camping and traveling with his family. He and Sally took several extended trips in their RV. In recent years, he developed a passion for cooking and connecting with others through food. He lived a life of service to his family and community. He will be dearly missed by his family and the many friends that he has made throughout the years.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Sally (Mueller) Lyon, of Moultonborough; daughters, Jennifer Chapman and her husband Justin, of Moultonborough, and Kristen Lyon, of Jacksonville, OR; two beautiful grandchildren, Eli and Adah Chapman; his sister, Janet Morgan, of Jacksonville, FL; many cousins and many dear friends.
