Jean Elizabeth Hibbard

August 7, 1925 — January 28, 2017

Jean E. Hibbard, 91, of Meredith, died January 28, 2017 at Lakes Region General Hospital, in Laconia.

Born and raised in Campton, NH, Jean was the daughter of Roland J. and Lavinia (Lovett) Dole.

She attended the Campton grade school, graduated with honors from Plymouth High School and furthered her education at Plymouth Teachers College.

In 1946 upon his return from serving his country in World War II, Jean was married to John M. Hibbard.

Jean's career was in education with teaching positions in Newmarket, NH, and Stevens High School in
Claremont, NH, where she taught business education classes. In 1955, she and John moved to
Somersworth, NH, and she became a homemaker and the mother to three children.

The family moved to Lexington, MA, and after her children matured, she worked in the library of the
Bedford, MA high school. Upon the death of her husband she retired to the shore of Lake Waukewan in Meredith, NH. In Meredith Jean was very active in the First Congregational Church of Meredith, and the Ellacoya Chapter #43 Order of the Eastern Star. Jean loved the lake and the many walks along its shore with her dogs. Some of her other passions during the different stages of her life were basketball, skiing, and weaving.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her daughter, Rebecca.

Jean is survived by her daughter, Deborah Hibbard, of Albuquerque, NM, a son, Douglas Hibbard, of Aurora, CO, a brother David Dole and his wife, Alice, of Portland, CT, and a sister, Sally Harris, and her husband, Ken, of Thornton, NH.

A memorial service for Jean will be held later in the spring.
