CENTER HARBOR — Gary T. White, 79, of Waukewan Road, passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Gary was born on January 19, 1945, in Meriden, CT, son to the late Beryl (Smith) Dionne and Howard White.
After leaving his childhood home in Meriden, he resided in Forestville and spent summers at the family cottage in Westbrook, CT, where he especially looked forward to spending time on his boat and to having friends and family visit.
Gary worked for the UAW General Motors in Bristol for 33 years, retiring in 1995. Soon after, he and his wife, Lynn, moved to New Hampshire to enjoy retirement where he also worked for the Laconia School food service.
The years ahead were spent enjoying the Lake Winnipesaukee area, especially when he had his boat and pulled his grandkids around the lake on tubes. He made many friends on the lake through the years. He loved all the gatherings they shared; with a special love of his times at Crazy Gringo’s, (aka, The Weir’s Adult Daycare Center).
NASCAR was a large part of Gary’s life since the early days of heading to stock car races and on to the NASCAR Cup Series where he attended races around the country at various tracks. He attended the Daytona 500 for 25 years and had a racing pool going every week either at Gringo’s or at the races. Gary was also a dedicated fan of UCONN women’s basketball team. Go Huskies!
Without a doubt, his family was always near and dear to him, but he was at his happiest spending time doing anything or nothing with his wife. She was there to share everything with him and right up to the day he left, she was by his side being his best friend and the love of his life.
Gary is survived by his wife of 43 years, Lynn (Forand) White; sons, Gary White and his wife Lori of Bristol, CT, and Robert David of Pembroke, NH; daughters, Lauri Sirois and her husband Paul of East Hampton, CT, and Tammy Frisbie and her husband Chris of Palm Bay, FL; six grandchildren, Jillian (White) Turner, Jamie Suchoski, Robert David Jr., Keara Fiorentino, Chad Pederson, and Courtney Pederson; brothers, Kevin Chase and his wife Rennie of Claremont, NH, and Christopher Chase of Meriden, CT; sister, Delene Brown of Fitchburg, MA; five great-grandchildren and two nieces. In addition to his parents, Gary was predeceased by his brother, Leslie Chase and daughter-in-law, Linda David.
A Celebration of Gary’s Life will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2024, from 12:00 noon to 2:00pm at The Club House, 329 Lakeside Avenue, Laconia, NH 03246.
