<title>Arthur J. Temple [12/14/1926 - 02/20/2012] </title>

<description><![CDATA[<img src="http://mayhewfuneralhomes.com/components/comObituaries/obituarythumbnails/50_115699.jpg" alt="Arthur J. Temple" />Arthur J. Temple, 85, passed away on Monday, February 20, 2012 at the Golden View Health Care Center, in Meredith, NH.  Arthur was born on December 14, 1926 in North Andover, MA, the son of Elizabeth (Ellis) and Arthur C. Temple.  He grew up in North Andover, MA, and was a 1944 graduate of Johnson High School.
Arthur joined the Army in March 1945 and served as a sergeant in the 19th Troop Carrier Squadron, Asiatic Pacific Theatre where he drove heavy trucks and did minor repairs.  Following his discharge, he worked as a spray painter at Craig Systems, Inc., Lawrence; following that, he became co-owner of the North Andover Service Center on Main Street where he handled vehicle repairs.  Arthur then when on to work at Berube Auto and Trailer Sales where his love of motor homes and travel was formed.  He went on to work in the Motor Vehicle Department of New England Telephone Company and retired from Verizon as a Heating and Air Conditioning Technician.
Arthur married Jane A. Loring on October 7, 1955.  In 1960, they bought a camp in Moultonborough, NH.  When their daughter Nancy A. Temple married Gary E. Woods and moved to Concord, NH in 1978, they left North Andover and moved to North Swanzey, NH.  After retiring, they traveled the US in their motor home and took cruises in Alaska and through the Panama Canal.  Eventually, they started spending the winter months in Myrtle Beach, SC, and summered in Moultonborough where they worked for the Castle in the Clouds.  Arthur drove the tram to the various attractions at the Castle.  
In October, 2003, Arthur bought a home in a Jensen’s Residential Community, Garden City, SC with his companion Melba “Chris” Moore of West Virginia.  They took part in many activities at Jensen’s including the annual community yard sale where Arthur was in charge of the electronics booth.  Arthur became an “Ambassador” at the Myrtle Beach Airport while working in the Information Booth.  He and Chris took many cruises; their last to Hawaii in February, 2010.  Arthur had cancer surgery which lead to a stroke in February, 2011; his family brought him back to NH in March.
Arthur was a Master Mason for 57 years and a member of the Cochichewick Lodge A.F. &amp; A.M., in North Andover, MA; he was also a member of several organizations:  The Northern NH Life Member Club, Telecom Pioneers, The American Legion Post 0178, Murrells Inlet, SC, The B.P.O.E., Murrells Inlet Lodge #2797, and he was also a member of The Church of the Resurrection, Surfside Beach, SC.

Arthur is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jane A. (Loring) Temple, in 1999; his loving companion, Melba “Chris” Moore, in 2010; his sister and brother-in-law, Winifred Stuart and husband Walter, formerly of Methuen, MA; and brother-in-law, Joseph Buturlia.

Arthur is survived by his daughter, Nancy A. Woods and husband Gary, of Moultonborough; three grandsons, Eric Woods and his wife Jennifer, of Derry, Michael Woods and his wife Lisa, of Woodbury, MN, and Norman Woods of Charlotte, SC; sister, Elizabeth Buturlia, of North Andover; two great-granddaughters, Isabella and Lillia; two great-grandsons, Edward and Wesley; numerous nieces, a nephew and their spouses.

<description><![CDATA[<img src="http://mayhewfuneralhomes.com/components/comObituaries/obituarythumbnails/50_115668.jpg" alt="Barry John Byron" />Barry John Byron, 64, of NH Route 175, died suddenly at his home as a result of injuries sustained in an accident, on Sunday, February 19, 2012.

Born in Hanover, NH on May 21, 1947, he was the son of Eugene and the late Hazel [Adams] Byron. He graduated from Concord High School, class of 1965.  He also attended Clemson University, in Clemson, SC.  Barry has been a resident of Holderness since 1975.
     
He worked, for twenty-six years at Freudenberg- NOK, as a supervisor and a plant manager in Mexico; he then became a business partner with Freudenberg.  He also owned and operated Green Planet Spray Foam Insulation Company.  
     
Barry was a communicant of Holy Trinity Parish, St. Matthews Church, in Plymouth, and a member of the National Rifle Association.  He loved the outdoors and enjoyed scuba diving, hunting and fishing. Barry was a great husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother.  His family and many friends will always remember Barry as a caring, selfless and hard working man.  His smile and infectious personality would light up a room.  He was a leader who people looked up to and respected.  Barry touched the lives of everyone he came in contact with and the world will never be the same without him. 
     
Barry is survived by his wife of forty-four years, Jane E. [Hazelwood] Byron of Holderness, children, Christina M. LeBlanc and husband John, of Campton, Ginger B. Derchsel and husband Matthew, of Londonderry, Connie Deyett and husband Michael, of Springfield, NH, Shawn T. Byron and wife Kristen, of Loudon, Jennifer A. Connon and husband Jeffrey, of Beverly, MA, Audrey M. Wujcik and husband Brian of Tilton, NH, fifteen grandchildren, his father Eugene of Colorado Spring, CO, brother, Eugene Byron and sister Teresa Amen, both of Denver, CO, sisters, Carole Mattice, of Moument, CO, Ann Cardell of Essex Junction, VT, and many nieces and nephews.

<description><![CDATA[<img src="http://mayhewfuneralhomes.com/components/comObituaries/obituarythumbnails/50_115640.jpg" alt="Stephen Viano" />Stephen Viano, 50, of Moultonboro, passed away Saturday, February 18th, at his home.  
     
He was born in Laconia, NH July 25, 1961.  He was the son of Jean H. Viano and the late John J. Viano of Moultonboro, NH.  Stephen was one of twelve children.  He was predeceased by his brother, Christopher Viano.   

Stephen grew up in the Center harbor area and attended grades 1 to 3 in the Center Harbor School.  He also attended Inter-lakes High School, Meredith.  He has been a resident of Moultonboro most all his life.

Stephen was a very talented plasterer.  His work can be seen in many of the finest
homes in the Lakes Region.  

He will be remembered for his avid love of motorcycles, his love of animals, especially his dog Bones, his love of anything with a history from antiques to old tools to cellar holes. He had many great friends from far and wide.  He will be missed by many. 

Survivors include his mother, Jean H. Viano, William E. and Valerie Viano of Chicago, IL, John P. and Kathy Viano of Plymouth, NH, Kenneth and Cathy Viano of Moultonboro, Paul Viano of Alexandria, VA, Peter Viano of Holderness, NH,  Elaine V. and Ramsey Willett of Meredith, NH,  Nancy T. Howe of Meredith, NH,  Sheila F. and Craig Heald of Center Sandwich, NH,  Barbara  and Tom Colangelo of W. Simsbury, Ct., Virginia V. and Ward Bird of Moultonboro, NH, numerous beloved nieces and nephews and his sister in law Rebecca Viano of  Chicago, IL.

Born on August 31, 1944, in Cincinnati, OH, she was the daughter of the late Earnest and Jane (Bennett) Hardee. Sue resided in Meredith for most of her life before moving to Moultonborough where she lived for the past thirteen years. Sue and her husband were the former owners of A.J. Welding and Repair.

Sue is predeceased by her beloved husband of thirty five years, Albert L. Juneau.

She is survived by her beloved children; daughter, Lori Cram and husband Raymond “Rip”, of Meredith, and son, Clinton L. Juneau and wife Angela, of Laconia; a cherished granddaughter, Madison Juneau; and many nieces and nephews.

<title>David Cates Switzer, Ph.D. [05/12/1934 - 02/10/2012] </title>

<description><![CDATA[<img src="http://mayhewfuneralhomes.com/components/comObituaries/obituarythumbnails/50_115111.jpg" alt="David Cates Switzer, Ph.D." />David C. Switzer, Ph.D., 77, of Plymouth, passed away peacefully at Forest View Manor, in Meredith, on Friday, February 10, 2012.

Born on May 12, 1934, in Portland, ME, he was the son of the late Karl F. and Barbara (Whitmore) Switzer. David was raised in Portland, graduating from the Deering High School. After graduating high school he went on to further his education at the University of Maine, earning a bachelor’s degree in history. 

David then went on to serve his country in the Army, achieving the rank of Captain as an anti-aircraft gunner. After his service to his country, David went to work as a teacher at the Vermont Academy, of Saxon River, VT for three years and then went on to attend the University of Connecticut, earning his master’s degree and Ph.D. in history with a strong maritime aspect. David spent the next forty years of his life working as a professor at Plymouth State University, in Plymouth, NH. 

During his tenure at Plymouth State University David also became a Nautical Archaeologist under the direction of George Bass in 1974. He then went on to serve as a Director of Archaeological Defense (investigating various war vessels, how they were built, and life aboard the vessels as seamen) in that roll until 1981. The first expedition he directed was in Penobscot Bay, ME, where he oversaw the excavation of a Revolutionary War Era Ship. He was also a part of archaeological dives in Greece and Scotland.  David then became a consultant for Nautical Archaeology in NH, a role in which he directed an excavation at the mouth of the Piscataqua River, he and a group of his students found the remains of a vessel in the Wallace Sand Beach, in Rye, NH, and the recovered pieces are now on display at the NH Seacoast Science Center. David’s last work before retirement was helping Flagler College, of St. Augustine, FL, set up a Nautical Archaeological Program in conjunction with the Light House Museum.

David is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Judith (Gulian) Switzer, of Plymouth; a daughter, Kate Switzer, of Plymouth; a son, Stephen Switzer and wife Lesley, of Holderness; a brother, John Switzer and wife Virginia, of S. Portland, ME; two grandsons, Ian and Max Switzer, also of Holderness; two nephews, and many grand nieces and nephews.

<description><![CDATA[<img src="http://mayhewfuneralhomes.com/components/comObituaries/obituarythumbnails/50_114830.jpg" alt="Arthur Paul Pearce, III" />Arthur Paul Pearce III, 67, of Bonita Springs, FL, formerly of Moultonborough, NH died February 7, 2012.  

Arthur was born May 27, 1944 in Cambridge, MA, the son of Helen (Dodd) and Arthur Paul Pearce Jr. A graduate of Belknap College in Center Harbor, NH, Mr. Pearce started his career as a Business Administrator for the Governor Wentworth Regional School District in Wolfeboro, NH.   He became President of Driscoll-Pearce Insurance, Inc. in Needham Heights, MA and directed the company for over 30 years.  Upon retirement he was a partner in Center Harbor Cellars, in Center Harbor, NH.

Mr. Pearce was active in the Moultonborough Lions Club and was a past President of the Walpole, MA, Lions Club and a proud member of the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company of Massachusetts.  He served on numerous advisory panels in the Insurance Industry.  He loved boating, golf, tennis and travelling.  Arthur embraced his friends and family with his infectious laughter and passion for living life to its fullest.

Mr. Pearce is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Mary Devitt Pearce; his beloved daughters, Mary-Ellen Pearce and husband Chris Tremblay, of Concord, NH,  Joanne Pearce and husband Stephen Mitchell, of Holderness, NH,  and Carolyn Helena Pearce of Boston, MA; five cherished granddaughters, Emily, Abigail, Lydia, Carys and Kellen.

<description><![CDATA[<img src="http://mayhewfuneralhomes.com/components/comObituaries/obituarythumbnails/50_114509.jpg" alt="Alfred S. Torressen" />Alfred S. Torressen, 82, of Meredith, NH, formerly of Kingston and Weymouth, MA, went to be with Christ his Savior, peacefully, after a long illness on February, 2, 2012 with his family close by his side. Al was born at home in Weymouth July 5th 1929. As a boy he lived on Grape Island in Boston Harbor where he developed his love for the ocean and sailing. 
He served in the Army after WWII, taking part in the occupation of Japan, a soldier of the 8th Army 24Th Infantry Division.  Al worked for Bethlehem Steel. The First ship he worked on was the USS Salem. He also worked for General Dynamics Fore River Shipyard in Quincy; he was also a member of the Boston Painters Union. 
Alfred was devoted to his wife Lorna and his family and friends. He loved sailing, golf, horseshoes, and most of all, his family. He was always proud of everyone as he would proudly express &quot;I&#039;m busting my buttons&quot;. Alfred traveled with his wife Lorna to Norway and took many memorable cruises. He was always available to listen to, and offer encouragement to everyone, many times with an impromptu song. He will always be remembered as a source of inspiration through his work ethic, compassion, and courage in all circumstances. 
He is predeceased by his son, Terry Torressen; a brother, John Torressen; two sisters, Dorothy Jones and Edith Torressen.
Al is survived by his devoted wife, Lorna Parry-Torressen, of Meredith; his 8 children, James Torressen and wife Ellen, Linda Olsen, Brett Torressen, Kerry Ricciardi, all of Weymouth, MA, Lori Reardon-Roche and husband Michael, of Greenville, SC, Gary Torressen and wife Melissa, Kristen Anderson and husband Norman, all of Moultonborough, NH; 14 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Mary Lou Torressen; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

<description><![CDATA[<img src="http://mayhewfuneralhomes.com/components/comObituaries/obituarythumbnails/50_114607.jpg" alt="Gloria V. Plaisted" />Gloria Victorine (Taylor) Plaisted of Moultonborough, NH died January 31, 2012 at Huggins Hospital after a brief illness.  
     Born November 27, 1938 in Laconia, NH to Fred Lester and Adele V. (Ambrose) Taylor, she lived most of her life in Moultonborough.  She graduated from Meredith High School as Salutatorian in 1956.  She went on to graduate from the Boston Stenography Institute in 1957.  
     In addition to being a homemaker and mother she also worked at the Old Country Store and the Chowder Barn in Moultonborough.  She made cookies, pies, and pot holders for the League of NH Craftsmen in Center Sandwich.  She taught cooking through the 4-H and was a 20 year member of the Moultonborough Fire Department Auxiliary.
     She is predeceased by her parents and her brother, Richard L. Taylor, all of Moultonborough.  
     She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Richard E. Plaisted of Moultonborough, three children, Brian Plaisted and his wife Lisa of Colorado Springs, CO; Deborah Taylor and her husband Keith of Moultonborough; and Mark Plaisted and his wife Sandi of Columbia, MD.  She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Born in Plymouth on July 4, 1943, he was the son of the late Phillip Gene Dupont and Mary [Durand] Munroe.
Gene grew up in the Plymouth and Holderness area and attended Plymouth Schools.  He has been a resident of Holderness of many years.
He worked most all his life as a heavy equipment operator, truck driver, and laborer for places such as; the State of NH Highway Department, the former Batchelder Tree Service, the Town of Plymouth Highway Department for twenty-eight years, Kings Lumber Yard, and Top Notch Tree Service.
Gene was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending many hours riding the loop.  He was a past member of the Valley Wheels Motorcycle group and was also a diehard NASCAR fan.
He is survived by his wife Valerie A. [Golios] Dupont of Holderness, son Travis A. J.  Dupont and his wife Lindsay of Charleston, SC. His mother Mary Munroe of Gilford, sister Maryann Leroux of Center Harbor, and two nephews.
